The fragrant scent produced by the Agarwood tree can be used as an economic resource. For the One Village One Product (1K1P) segment, News At Ten highlights a premium perfume product made from Agarwood, which is being developed by a local company in Tutong District.
Angkasa Oud Agarwood Company was established in 2018, but in 2011, the company began operating as a learning phase. Under the 1K1P Program, the company produces over seven types of perfumes based on genuine Brunei agarwood, including agarwood products and agarwood-based soaps.
In terms of capacity, the company's production has increased from 200 to 250 millilitres per year in 2018, to 600 to 700 millilitres per year this year. The company also targets production of one litre per year to meet market demand.
Despite facing challenges in obtaining local workers, participation in the 1K1P Program and involvement in exhibitions abroad can open up new markets. This step can also indirectly inspire the younger generation to venture into entrepreneurship based on local products.
